A nice little peek into the world of Novamente LLC, Ben and the big S. I applaud Ben for getting relatively specific with his beliefs and plans, something that I’d like to see coming from SIAI. Regarding the article, I have to wonder if the 3-7 year timeline is adjusted for cognitive bias… :)

SIAI has released more content on specifics and plans than Ben has… at least until the Novamente books come out, I suppose. The 3-7 timeline is not “crazy” in my eyes, but I slightly doubt it, looking more like 10-20 years down the road. For what it’s worth, Peter Voss and (IIRC) Steve Omohundro also quote around 3-7 years, and they’re extremely smart. Basically, we don’t know. :)
