Lately I’ve been writing a lot of short articles for WiseGEEK.com, whose unostentacious tagline promises “clear answers for common questions”. The site is fairly popular in the Great Wide World of Intarnet, boasting an Alexa rating that hovers between 5,000 and 10,000 on a weekly basis. Following are some articles of mine that have been published fairly recently. Some questions are common, some are self-selected and quite eclectic:
What is a Space Pier?
What is the process of winemaking?
What is a folksonomy?
What is a hypertelescope?
How much radiation can the human body safely receive?
What is a polymerase chain reaction
Why is carbon fiber so useful?
How do glaciers move?
What is an EMP?
What is sonoluminescence?
What is an electrolaser?
Here are some others, a bit older, but of classic transhumanist interest:
What are some common objections to life extension?
What is the technological Singularity?
What is the Kardashev scale?
What are existential risks?
What is Friendly AI?
What is cryonics?
If you like ‘em, link ‘em!

Michael,
I’m trying to track down the two weeks’ worth of WiseGEEK. One question and explanation in particular merited feedback and I forgot (sorry I wasn’t thinking clearly) to note the question nor answer.

So Michael, you write for WiseGEEK. I sent an e-mail to you at michaelanissimov@gmail.com and email2me.net bounced it.
I’ve also tried your website http://del.icio.us/anissimov/WiseGEEK and nothing comes up on my screen, even remotely related to you.
You’re young so I’ll have to excuse your androcentrism, eg. “man-made” whether it’s a road or a lake. Even though gender is wholly irrelevant in terms of how or who, creates a road or a lake, society is bent on using andocrentric language.
If you should respond to this, thank you. It will be appreciated.

Which article in particular were you looking for?
What does the phrase “man-made” have to do with what you’re looking for..?
