Tokyo-based artist Mitsuteru Yokoyama; the adventures of the robot (in Japanese, “Tetsujin 28,” translated as “IronMan 28″) had appeared in a boys’ magazine (Shonen) and were successful enough to generate a black-and-white animated TV Series called “Tetsujin 28-Go”.
It’s a long shot but I’m guessing from those old Superman cartoons. That’s a guess but I vaguely remember that bot somewhere.

One of my favorites when I was a young boy back in the early to mid-60′s. I remembering really wanting to have a robot just like that myself.
