This plot, these archetypes, seem to come up again and again in the mythology of all cultures. Merlin and Loki in Northern European myth. Coyote and Raven in Native American myth. Kwaku Anansi in West African myth and on and on it goes.
We know the risks, ignore the warnings and decide to play with matches anyway.
