I told her not to look in there…

Maybe in the end it’s all an act of defiance.
Maybe Eve knew exactly what she was doing when she ate the apple and gained the knowledge of the gods. Maybe Pandora knew exactly what she was doing when she opened that jar. Prometheus, foreseeing Zeus’ punishment, still stole fire from the gods.
This plot, these archetypes, seem to come up again and again in the mythology of all cultures. Merlin and Loki in Northern European myth. Coyote and Raven in Native American myth. Kwaku Anansi in West African myth and on and on it goes.
We know the risks, ignore the warnings and decide to play with matches anyway.

Tragedy of the commons. If she won’t open it, the next person will. Better to grow up and learn to deal with the good and the bad.
