Quite incredible. Is the only way one can describe that concept. It incorporates much of what I like about the idea of Nano scale systems however strange they may seem. Grass that can power the device is an extremely bold statement about scientific humanities push to harness energies that should be powering our everyday lives. While the energies are complex in how harnessing them could correlate to the design of real products that can be used quite readily and be of a complete benefit to our lives. Thus in one of the H+ plus declarations the extension of human capability with the aid of new technologies can be fully achieved. The idea of a biological means to provide power nay the idea of using a botanical means to provide power is a simple perfect idea. But this idea begs the question will the Nano scale device be considered a device or an organism?

It is my personal feeling that computer systems especially ones that have been created for specific functions such as workstations that the coming together of functioning pieces that could not or would not operate without each essential part could be considered a society. And that societies only goal is to perform those tasks that a certain person has them perform. So with that idea would a botanical such as Nanoscale grass appreciate coming together with these others in an electronic community?

The answer I have to that comment is that just as human beings operate on electrical systems, botanicals must run on similar systems. This idea in and of itself would most assuredly point to the fact that the answer is yes. Would not a plant just as some humans may want to be excited about integrating into a system greater than itself? And would not that increase what ever a plant lives for there by giving them purpose? Also does this idea of giving a plant a purpose make it more happy more likely to succeed and perform efficiently if it has a sense that it is performing something more than power generation? Would the integration of Botanicals and Nano scale technologies eventually lead to a natural progression that by putting one of these morph devices directly into your life that an eventual real fruitful conversation occur between a human and a plant or for that matter a Nanoorganism?

I would love and appreciate to hear your views on these ideas as it pertains to this particular video and this particular concept. Thank You.

Woa. That almost sounds like it’s getting into MNT/Drextech territory, doesn’t it?

I so want one of those, if they manage to pack everything in the video into it and make it bug-free.

“I so want one of those, if they manage to pack everything in the video into it and make it bug-free.”

That begs the question “if these devices could be brought to the point of manufacture on a sterile assembly line could the your battery capacity be reduced because of pests and microorganisms.

Theodore; the answer to your question is a solid “sort-of”.

Though nanoscale technology //does// have a relatively short life-span, that has more to do with chemical decomposition than it does with microorganisms.

I once heard in a program about Biotechnology and its application from a Biotech entrepreneur that DNA is an immortal molecule. I also fervently believe even with only a basic understanding of Nanotechnology at best that “Nanotechnology will if certain circumstances are met first then the creation of Nanoorganisms will be able to have lifespans long enough so that a fresh Nanoorganism can take its place”. If this speculation where to become a scientific theory then the possibilities of future Nanotech will be infinite. I will make this statement “Nanotech systems in their most basic form will not become a system until methods are developed to not only run the Nanosystem but sustain it with constantly renewed Nanoorganisms to take the place of died or dieing Nanoorganisms”. “This idea of Nano systems especially when describing Nano systems of a purely biological foundation should be treated as organisms whether conscious or not”. That statement will follow with another “Nano systems of the future whether of a biological or technological organism will be conscious!”. And if these achievements in human mastery of it’s world were to become sufficient in nurturing the coming of full fledged Nanofactories and AI “Whether they lead to a singularity or not” will happen. “If they can make the big one they can make the small one!”

Always, ALWAYS ask one thing of “new” technologies:

    Does it change anything FUNDAMENTAL?
Does it endow us with capabilities we don’t already have?
    Does it?

I don’t see ONE new capability here. Do you?
