Methuselah Foundation: Early 2008 Developments

1-hr video: Aubrey de Grey presents at the Bay Area transhumanist meetup on recent developments at the Methuselah Foundation. Filmed on February 6 -- about three months ago.

  1. Thanks for posting it. Fascinating stuff.

  2. Concerning the final point about inappropriate inflammation, SENS might have a look at the role of glycerin generally; it has been found to be a potent regulator of skin layering (where non-stop cell division is the norm) and can often reverse psoriasis-inflammation by restoring “normal disciplining” of the process. Given that the skin is the largest organ, with the fastest turnover, this seems very suggestive.

  3. This guy always says fascinating stuff, which is usually a sure sign that someone’s brain is working properly.

Someone asked him at TED why, when he’s so passionate about curing aging, he makes himself look like an old man. He responded by saying he was actually over 600 years old. I believe him!

  4. Aubrey de Grey is in the right realm and he will be the one educating others on the way to prepare for living longer. Such as retirement planning and longevity insurance.

  5. The above is the first advertising-oriented comment I have let slide in the history of this blog to date.

  6. Appropos of Lockhart’s comment: I’m tellin’ ya, view *Jerome Bixby’s Man From Earth*—it’s a gem of a film (only 87 mins. long, too!).
