Funny Viral Marketing for Terminator 4
Maybe it's partially because something like 80% of my email has to do with AI, but I've started getting sponsored links in gmail with viral marketing for Terminator 4:
It links to an amusing blog of a conspiracy theorist-style writer for the Skynet resistance. In case you missed it, he links to the Skynet website. He also links to Bre Pettis, a real person, and mentions him as an employee of Skynet -- interesting move there, Warner Brothers. Pattis is quite the expert on rapid prototyping and is the founder of a company, Makerbot, "that produces robots that make things". The 50s-style graphic presentation on the site reminds me of a ncomment comic that makes fun of Propeller.
It's also a funny thing to imagine the author behind the Skynet resistance blog. Middle-aged marketer who adapted fast to the blog-based world of guerilla marketing, or younger person who grew up naturally into that world? I will probably never know.

It’s all rather silly. The general public are already confused and often mislead about robotics. Brief demos of humanoids such as ASIMO can give the superficial impression of greater capabilities than actually exist. This kind of marketing campaign, which attempts to blur fact and fiction, is only going to add to the confusion.

Except when ASIMO falls down the stairs. :)

You just pointed out some highly interesting Internte viral marketing points that my partner and I were talking about, excited I ran into it, so thank you for that.
