SIAI 11:07 pm
Oh, hello, what’s this? Friendly AI and Eliezer in The New York Times. As Media Director of SIAI, it’s nice when things occur due to work I put in, but it also great when I don’t need to do a thing and SIAI is publicized in mainstream newspapers. Can’t complain.

Not bad, but they misspelled ‘Singularitarians’. So sad.
I didn’t read it as praise, but I guess you did?
No, not as a praise. But it is coverage that wasn’t downright ridicule. That is a step up I think.
The more mainstream media exposure we get, when it is not ridiculously critical, is a good thing. I’ve noticed that life extension, biotech and nonotech have received a lot of coverage, and now AI. There is still little attention given to cognitive or physical enhancement (including cyborg). Our job is to keep showing the way and prepare everyone for the coming changes, put a nail in the coffin of the false claims and luddism, and redirect attention toward the real challenges and dangers so they can be overcome and we can have the best future possible.
