PopSci has 10 interesting questions about the Singularity. I think this article underscores the importance of learning about the potential of molecular nanotechnology, other forms of molecularly precise engineering, and self-replicating factories in conjunction with the Singularity concept. It is hard to imagine a superior manufacturing technology if you are not at least familiar with speculation about superior manufacturing technologies. Someone without such exposure is forced to only imagine marginally improved versions of the products of contemporary, human-driven manufacturing technology, such as better iPods.
