Ten Things You Need to Stop Tweeting About
Here's the link. Twitter is the logical conclusion of the modern trend of shortening attention spans and Facebook-style addictive online socializing.
For a possible antidote, read Andrew Keen's Cult of the Amateur: How Today’s Internet is Killing Our Culture. Ben Goertzel's "The Global Nincompoop Awakens" is another informative piece.

Have you read the rest of that Oatmeal site? It’s hilarious. Definitely going in my RSS reader

Oatmeal on Twitter is certainly amusing in parts. I think saying something sustantive isn’t the main goal of these social networks. It’s about keeping in touch. Now, it’s certainly debatable that we could raise the bar with how we fill this “keeping in touch”. On the other hand, nobody’s forced to read Twitter or Facebook messages they find boring. At least I hope this isn’t the case!
Speaking of Ben Goertzel: I like his Tweets (http://twitter.com/bengoertzel/). In his case I find even the occasional “kid, dog, cat” tweets interesting, including the ones about his parrot :-)
“Social media: always encouraging us to say less and less to more and more people” is very quotable, though.

I once thought Twitter was silly, but now I can see value of it, to a degree.
I follow “tweaters” (‘right word?’) that link me to new articles, news, and even stock information ( I’ve even heard of people that use Twitter to track network information.) I use it as a continuos news and article feed.
Also, I really want to know what Adam Baldwin had for breakfast.
