26th Birthday

Today, April 10th, is my 26th birthday. If you wish to make me happy on my birthday, you know what you can do -- make a donation to SIAI! Thank you for your readership and support of this blog and of the transhumanist movement in general.

  1. Happy birthday!

I’m also 26…I’ll need another 26 years to reach your level though :-)

I’ll donate to SIAI again as soon as I can.

And keep up this great blog.

    Have fun!!!

  2. Yeah, happy birthday.

I may well donate to SIAI if I ever stumble across a bag of money. Given my current trajectory, that seems unlikely, but you never know.

  3. Happy birthday! I’ll be donating to the SIAI for sure.

  4. Michael,

Congrats on your 26th birthday. I’m going to be 32 myself come June.

When I turned 23, a colleague from work told me that life would be going fast from now on. I knew he was right at the time. And now that almost 9 years have passed since that day, I can say with strong affirmation that… he was right!!!

I remember the days when you were just a wee young lad, writing all sorts of impressive stuff and being damn proud of it. You’ve replaced the picture of your younger you, who look significantly more bonier than the current, well-fed you.

I also remember that you were complaining about reaching your twenties. You didn’t like how your article writing performances were starting to get relatively less impressive, because the development of your intellectual prowess was not coming along as quickly as your calendar age.

I know how you feel buddy. But despite the fact that our relationship is pretty much one-way, I just wanted to say this to make you feel better…

Now that we’re getting old and time moves subjectively faster, the Singularity (whichever form it will take) is going to arrive pretty darn quickly.

    ;)

  5. Happy Birthday Michael!

Thank YOU, for your great blog!

  6. Banzai!

I probably wouldn’t be an SIAI monthly donor right now if I hadn’t stumbled upon your blog over a year ago.

  7. You’re now 9,500 days old. You should do something very big on your 10,000th day on Earth (~27.5 years of age).

  8. Happy Birthday! May you live forever(as well as all of us)! I’ve been a reader for years and hope to keep reading for many many many more! Onward to the Singularity! Let’s welcome that FAI with its own birthday party!

  9. PeteG:

You may be on to something: A birthday for 10,000 days (27.5 yrs). It could catch on.

  10. I dig this counting days thing. Happy 14,692-day to me!

  11. And of course, happy 26th to you Michael!

  12. Yeah, happy birthday.
I may well donate to SIAI if I ever stumble across a bag of money. Given my current trajectory, that seems unlikely, but you never know.

What a worthless comment. Put yourself together instead of hitting keys on a keyboard.

  13. What does money have to do with being together, Sing7337?

Enjoy that economic privilege, though. Don’t forget to flaunt it.

  14. Summerspeaker, realize that $5 makes a difference. We are dealing with a utilitarian calculus here.

PeteG, maybe I’ll try DMT? Start a new cult? Anything else to recommend?

  15. Just having some big party for the reason of turning 10,000 days old might suffice. Many people might appreciate the novelty and look at you as some cultural innovator. Or you could spark a singularity; that would be huge.

Though if you’re going to start a good enough cult, I want in, and I want council member status.

  16. happy bday michael and many more happy returns.
