David Brin
Author, The Transparent Society
David Brin is the acclaimed Hugo and Nebula award-winning author of ten novels and two collections of short stories. His nonfiction work The Transparent Society: Will Technology Force Us to Choose Between Privacy and Freedom? (1998) won the Freedom of Speech Award of the American Library Association. He argues that it would be good for society if the surveillance is equal for all, and the public has the same access as those in power. He bases this argument upon the claim that the most dangerous and corrupt abuses of power go hand-in-hand with a lack of accountability and transparency. He has a doctorate in astrophysics, has been a consultant to NASA, and a graduate-level physics professor. He is a member of the CRN Taskforce.
