Jurgen Schmidhuber

Professor of Cognitive Robotics and Computer Science, TU Munich

Professor Jurgen Schmidhuber's main scientific ambition from the age of 15 has been to build an optimal scientist, then retire. This optimism is driving his research on mathematically sound, general purpose universal learning machines, neural networks, and artificial intelligence. His research includes generalizations of Kolmogorov complexity and the Speed Prior. Since 1995 he has been co-director of the Swiss AI lab IDSIA in Lugano. From 2004 he has served as professor of Cognitive Robotics at the Tech. University Munich. In 2006 he joined the faculty of the University of Lugano.

He is scheduled to keynote at AGI-09, the second conference on artificial general intelligence. The event will take place March 6-9 in Arlington, Virginia. Continuing the mission of thefirst AGI conference, AGI-09 will gather an international group of leading academic and industry researchers involved in serious scientific and engineering work aimed directly toward the goal of artificial general intelligence.
