Special Projects Director, Alcor

Tanya Jones, Alcor's Special Projects Director, has been actively involved with the organization since 1990. She has devoted a decade of work to cryonics, overseeing the cryopreservation process, improving procedures, and managing Alcor's day-to-day operations. Having participated in the cryopreservation procedures of half of Alcor's patient population, previously she has held the titles of Program Architect and Director of Communication at the the Foresight Nanotech Institute.

At the 2006 Alcor Conference, acting as the organization's chief operating officer, she gave a talk on the subject of Alcor's Wealth Preservation Trusts necessary to support and eventually revive cryopreserved patients. She has more recently been pursuing initiatives announced in 2007 that are expected to improve the state of the art in cryonics technology. This includes Alcor's whole body vitrification system, which offers greater control of the cryopreservation process and more insight into the results of each cryopreservation case. She also offered an overview of the system's automated control processes, data collection capabilities, and wide range of cooling protocols.

In November she conducted an informal discussion on the subject of cryonics in Silicon Valley at Foresight Nanotech Institute's 2007 Vision Weekend Unconference, informing technologists about the protocols of the organization and the long-term goals of cryonics life extension aimed at benefiting patients today for whom other medical applications may be inadequate for the purpose of sustaining health.
