Five Words To Describe FAI
I and Nick Hay were doing some proofreading of a paper explaining the value of Friendly AI. We came to a particular point where it was being said what a Friendly AI *does*. It's remarkably difficult to choose the appropriate way to say this sort of thing in only a few words; this led us to wonder what Singularitarians would do if faced with the proposition; "Everyone on Earth can hear about Friendly AI, but you are only allowed five words to describe it." In a sense there would be a certain chaos, because this request is obviously *not easy* ("Volition... wait, respect! No, altruism!") But why not give it a try! Below are our attempts.
- "making things better with smarts"
- "fixing problems with new minds"
- "putting kindness into all matter"
- "creating open-ended wisdom from scratch"
- "kind intelligence that improves itself"
Some attempts by Gordon Worley:
- ``humane morality from self-improving intelligence
- ``understanding, altruism, humaneness, respect, morality
- ``exponential growing compassion and sanity
